During the road course roundtable I mentioned that I had built a big "squeegee" for spreading Rhino Patch type materials and a couple people asked for pics.  It's pretty simple, the squeegee bar is a piece of angle iron and a piece of flat bar with flat rubber sandwiched between them.  It's hung from all thread so it's height can be adjusted.  The front wheels are fixed casters, the rears are swivel casters.

It's main benefit is for long strips of damage such as raveling in a corner.  Just pour the material in a line in front of it and make one, maybe 2 passes to smooth it out.  If I were to do it again I would change two things:

1) put the rear wheels further forward and make the curve of the squeegee bar deeper and more of a "V" shape instead of a shallow  "U"
2) make the handle wider or extendable so that it can be pushed by two people, one on each side, rather than one person in the back who has to waddle to avoid stepping in the fresh material.

Glenn- when you use this how much material are you mixing and putting in front of the spreader at one time?
Does it start to "cure" to quickly?

Hey Glenn! Thanks for helping to get things started on the forum.  Although I'm sure it will take a little while for the forum to get "active", I am sending out information this morning as to how members can be notified when someone makes a post.  The default setting is "off", so many people probably have not yet seen your post.  But once they do, I think it will help them to understand how to use the forum.

Mike, sorry for the late reply, I didn't have the notifications turned on.

We are mixing up about three gallons at a time.  We pour a gallon of the liquid into a bucket and stir it with a mixer while slowly adding two gallons of the powder.  When it's all mixed we pour it out in a "line" over the area to be repaired and then run the spreader over it.  It takes a bit of practice to be able to eyeball how wide/long of a "line" you should pour, but other than that it's pretty straight forward.

We don't have any problems with it curing too fast as the spreader makes quick work of the actual spreading.  The key is that once the material skins over, DO NOT TOUCH IT.  Anything you do will just create an enormous mess.
